Artist Statement

My silk works are one‑of‑one originals created using traditional resist techniques, hand‑drawn linework, layered silk dyes, and steam‑setting for permanence. Each piece is painted on 100% Crepe de Chine, Haboti, or Charmeuse and finished by hand. The visual language blends butterflies, florals, jewel tones, metallic gutta, and symbolic imagery rooted in transformation, faith, and renewal.

THE STROTHER SILK PROCESS

1. Hand Drawing

Every silk begins with direct linework using gold or black gutta resist.

2. Layered Dye Work

Premium silk dyes are applied in multiple passes to create depth, luminosity, and movement.

3. Steam‑Setting

Color is permanently bonded to the silk fibers for brilliance and longevity.

4. Hand Finishing

Edges are rolled by hand; most works are professionally framed after completion.
